One more reason to love Microsoft

I’ve been wondering why so many of my students have been stretching out their papers by adding an extra line between the paragraphs of their essays.  Turns out, it hasn’t been their fault at all:

In Microsoft Office Word 2007, the default line spacing for most Quick Styles sets is 1.15, with slightly more space following each paragraph. The default line spacing for Office Word 2003 documents is 1.0.

Why, for the love of small innocent puppies–WHY?

Microsoft will surely reap a Kama whirlwind for this one.  Sheesh.

It’s a mystery! Thou shalt not question the almighty WORD of MICROSOFT!

I have to fire up the Big Blue W for most of my editing projects, but I console myself by using a childish del.icio.us tag.

I’ve never quite latched onto the whole social bookmarking thing, but I did get a kick out of glancing at your del.icio.us tags–especially the “freedom ship.”  Brilliant!  Who knows—maybe these “tags,” as they’re called, are alright after-all.

Yeah, and the default font is set to some san serif lilliputian font…
